Troubleshooting: My Profile

Having issues with accessing your account or handling your profile? Check out the details below for quick and easy troubleshooting.

Do I have to create an account in order to use the app?

In order to make sure your tasks and lists are readily available to you 24/7 – on any of our supported platforms – we require users to create an account that will sync to our servers and ensure no information ever gets lost. To learn how to create an account and find more information regarding our privacy policy, check out this article.

I forgot my password! How can I retrieve it?

Don’t worry, you can easily recover your password from the login page. First, type in your username, and then click on “Forgot Password?” Then, just put in the email associated with your account and a recovery email will be sent to you. You will be able to reset your password.

How can I change my account’s email address?

This is probably happening because you are trying to change your email to an email address that is already associated with an Any.do account. Please delete (under Settings – Profile) the account associated with this address and then try changing your email again or choose another email address to which you can change your account.

I logged in and my account is empty! How do I retrieve my records?

Are you signing into the same account you were previously using with Any.do? You can check which email you’re using under Settings – Profile in your Any.do app. If you’re not sure, please try logging into the app with a different email address. If you are logging in with the same account you were previously using, please sign out (under Settings – Profile) and log back into the app on all platforms. Allow ample time for your most updated information to sync from our servers to your app. Note that logging into the app with Facebook and Google automatically logs you into the app with the default account on your device and may differ from the default account on your other devices. If you’re still experiencing issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team here.

Can I merge my personal and work accounts?

Yes! You can use one account for all of your lists. If you already created 2 separate Any.do accounts, just reach out to our Support Team here and they will gladly set this up for you!

I never signed up for an Any.do account. How can I access my records?

For the past few years Any.do has been account-based only, in order to sync and save tasks 24/7 on all platforms. Some of our old users may have had the option in the past to save their data locally. If this is the case, make sure to contact our Support Team before deleting the app or upgrading it so our team can help you make sure you do not lose your tasks. The best way to use Any.do is with a registered account and we highly recommend all users who still do not have an account to contact our team to get their app synced.

I can’t sign in with my Apple ID on certain devices

The Apple ID option is currently available on iOS, Mac and Web apps only. It will be gradually added to more platforms in the near future, but in the meantime, we can offer a workaround to log in with a simple email and password:

  1. From a desktop device, log into the Web app.
  2. Choose to log-in with an email.
  3. Enter your Apple ID’s email address.
  4. Click on ‘forgot password’.
  5. You’ll receive a link to your Apple’s email address to set the account’s password.

Once you’ve set your password, you will be able to log into any platform via the email and password login option.

I registered with a hidden Apple ID to Any.do but now I want to use my standard email address

Users who have chosen to register with their hidden Apple ID might see a random email address under their account’s profile, which was provided by Apple for registration. The hidden ID option means Apple does not disclose the user’s actual email address to Any.do, but instead provides a randomly generated ID in the following format: XXXXXX@privaterelay.apple.com. In order to change this setting and register with the actual email associated with your Apple ID, you may simply switch from hidden to visible in your Apple ID Settings:

  • On your mobile or Mac device, open your Apple ID.
  • Go to Password & Security.
  • Choose “stop using apple id”.
  • Done!

Next time you try to sign up with Apple, you will have the option to select ‘hidden’ or ‘show my email’.

Note: Changing the profile type will create a new Any.do account with your updated email and will not alter the old account’s email address. To do that, please contact our team here and they will gladly assist you. To view instructions for switching your Apple ID’s profile type, see below.
