Add tasks with ease using our natural input feature!

The Smart Type is Any.do's answer to on-the-go functionality. Designed to make life easier, Smart Type helps users create action items in a time-saving automated way, utilizing natural language. It gives you endless customization opportunities, including the ability to add reminders, create new Lists and Tags, or even share your to-dos with your friends and colleagues, all from one view.

Availability:

The following user-types can take advantage of this feature:

  • Personal users (free).

  • Premium users.

  • Family users.

  • Teams users.

The feature is available on both our mobile and web/desktop apps (functionality-based, see below).

πŸ› οΈ How does it work?

  • Use natural language to add one-time reminders by simply naming the time and date.

  • Choose which list to associate with your task.

  • Add the desired Color Tags.

Note: Automatic time detection is currently available in English, French, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Portuguese, Chinese, Italian, Korean and Arabic only.

  1. Create a new Task using the unified input bar.

  2. Add a reminder using natural language for time detection. Or, select the relevant option from the

    menu.

πŸ’» To add a personal task with a reminder on Web/ Desktop

  1. Create a new Task using the input bar.

  2. For Personal tasks - tap on the bell icon

    and choose the desired Reminder time and Tap β€œSet” in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  3. For Workspace tasks - tap on the calendar icon

    and choose the settings and click outside of the pop up. The changes will be saved automatically.

  1. Open the Calendar view.

  2. Create a new event using the unified input bar.

  3. Add a reminder using natural language for time detection.

Note: Using multiple numbers in a title can cause recognition issue, which is why we recommend converting numbers to words, unless they are part of the reminder time.

  1. Create a new Task using the input bar.

  2. Tap on the hash

    icon or type the β€œ#” key (Personal tasks only).

  3. Choose the desired Tag from the menu.

  4. To customize a new Tag for a Personal task - type a new tag title after the # and then tap the β€œCreate a "X” Tag" that appears on the screen.

  1. Create a new Task using the input bar.

  2. Tap on the list icon

  3. Choose the desired List from the menu, or type a new title to customize a new List, and then tap the β€œCreate new folder named X” that appears on the screen.

  1. Create a new Task using the input bar.

  2. Tap on the assigne/ due date/ tag icon

  3. Choose the desired items and click Save.


❌ To disable the Smart Type's auto-detection

  1. Open Settings in Any.do.

  2. Preferences -> Time Detection (off).

​You can also remove it this way for a specific task

  1. Create a new Task using the input bar.

  2. If you do not want the auto detection, once you see a part of the Task title highlighted in blue, tap below the title on the blue suggestion to disable it. As a result the highlight will be removed.
