Stay productive right from your home screen with our widget!

The Any.do's widgets give you the ability to manage your tasks right from your home screen - on mobile and desktop! Whether you're using an Android device or iOS, you can easily access your tasks and events on-the-go by adding one of our widgets to your home screen. The widgets will sync with the app automatically, so anything you add or modify is immediately reflected in the app and across all other platforms.

Availability:

The following user-types can take advantage of this feature:

  • Personal users (free).

  • Premium users.

  • Family users.

  • Teams users.

The feature is available on both our mobile and web/desktop apps (functionality-based, see below).


πŸ› οΈ How does it work?

  • On Android, you can also choose from 4 different widgets, ranging in size and functionality - accommodating your every need.

  • Android users can opt to add a Quick Add bar to their notifications center (Android curtain) as well.

  • On iOS users can choose from 11 different widgets for Home Screen.

  • At this time we do not have iOS 16 Lock Screen widgets.

  • The Windows and Mac apps, offer tray-icons to quickly add tasks while working in other windows.

On Android: You will be able to view your assigned workspace tasks on the Any.do widget


πŸ€– The Android Widgets

Any.do's Android widgets are just what you need to stay on top of your agenda right from your home screen or notifications center. We highly recommend adding one (or more) of these widgets to keep close track of your upcoming action items!

βž• To add the Android widgets

On your Android device, you can to add the home-screen widgets or the Quick-Add Bar widget (in your Android curtain), by simply following these instructions:

πŸ“±To add the home-screen Android widgets

  1. Long press on your home screen

  2. Press "Widgets"

  3. Scroll to Any.do and select it

  4. Choose which widget you want to add, and drag it to your home screen.

πŸ“±To add the quick-add bar widget

This setting will show or hide the widget located in the notification center.

  1. Open the app settings.

  2. Turn the "Quick-add bar" to Show or Hide.

πŸ“±To view assigned workspace tasks

If you have the latest version installed you will be able to view assigned workspace tasks in the calendar widget.

βš™οΈ Android widget types

There are four different types of Android widgets, that come with a white or translucent backgrounds. Click any of the following options for a full description and preview.

βœ… The Task View Widget

Allows you to view all your tasks by scrolling through, complete tasks, and add new tasks by voice or typing. You can also tap on the expansion arrows in the top right corner to quickly open the app.

πŸ“… The Calendar Widget

Allows you to see your calendar, and your events and tasks that appear on it are shown below. You can browse through the dates, or use buttons on the bottom to quickly add events or tasks. You can also tap on the expansion arrows in the top right corner to quickly open the app.

πŸ“ The Compact Widget

Allows you to cycle through your tasks for today, viewing one at a time. Also has buttons for adding tasks by voice or typing.

🀏 The minimal Widget

Only has buttons for adding tasks by voice or typing.

πŸ‘οΈ The quick-add bar Widget

Allows you to add tasks from your notification menu.


βœ… Working with the Android widgets

Operating your android widgets is easy as pie! Click on any of the options below for instructions:

πŸ“ To resize a widget

  1. Hold on the widget for 2-3 seconds.

  2. Select "resize" or "padding."

  3. Drag the edges to the size you desire.

➑️ To move a widget

Simply long press and then drag wherever you would like.

πŸ” To switch from Calendar to Tasks View

  1. Open the widget display.

  2. Press on either the Calendar or Tasks views on the top left corner.

βž• To add a task from the widget

Simply press the plus icon, the microphone icon, or "Add a new task" depending on which Widget you are using and how you want to add the task.

βœ… To complete a task from the widget

Simply tap the checkbox to the left of the task.

πŸš€ Show/ Hide completed tasks

  1. Enter your app's settings.

  2. Toggle the Show competed to 'On' or 'Off'.


❌ To remove the Android widgets

If you no longer need a widget, you can easily remove it from displaying on your device as detailed here:

  1. Long press to start moving the widget.

  2. Tap on "Remove from Home" or drag it to the top of the screen where it says "Remove."

Any.do's iOS widgets were designed to help you maximize productivity on the go, right from your home screen. We highly recommend adding one (or more) of these widgets to keep close track of your upcoming action items!

βž• To add the iOS widgets

Installing the iOS widgets is easy, being the same as installing any other widgets on your device! For a step by step guide, see below:

ο£Ώ To install/remove the iOS widgets

  1. From the Home Screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle, or Press edit.

  2. Tap on the "+" icon on the top left corner of the screen.

  3. Search for Any.do, and tap on the widget you want to add.

  4. The task widgets also allow the option to select different filters to viewing tasks, by simply tapping the display while in edit mode.

ο£Ώ To install/remove the widget on iOS 13 and below

  1. Swipe left to the last screen on your device's home where you can view widgets.

  2. Press "Edit"

  3. Scroll to Any.do and enable/disable it

Note: At this time we do not have iOS 16 Lock Screen widgets.


βœ… Working with the iOS widgets

Operating your iOS widgets is quick and easy! Click on any of the options below for instructions:

✏️ To edit the task widget sorting

  1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to edit.

  2. Tap "Edit widget".

  3. Choose the sorting type.

πŸ”„ To switch from Calendar to Tasks View (iOS 13 and below)

  1. Open the widget display.

  2. Press on either the Calendar or Tasks views on the top left corner.

Note: Taking actions like editing items or adding new ones can only be done by tapping on the task/widget to open the main app. At this time, these actions cannot be applied directly via the widgets.


➑️ To move iOS widgets

  1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to move.

  2. Move Widget.

  3. Tap "Done"


❌ To remove the iOS widgets

If you no longer need a widget, you can easily remove it from displaying on your device as detailed here:

  1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to remove.

  2. Tap Remove Widget.

  3. Tap Remove again to confirm.


πŸ’» The Desktop widgets

Any.do offers a quick and easy way for users to add items on their desktop device without having to open the main desktop apps. Learn more below.

βš™οΈ Desktop widget types

The Mac and Windows apps allow to add tray icons to your device, in order to quickly open an input box to add tasks while working in different windows.


βž• To Add the desktop widget

The desktop widgets will either be automatically added to your device (Mac) or can be enabled in a few simple actions (on Windows), per the details below:

ο£Ώ Add the tray icon widget on the Mac app

  1. Search in your Mac using the finder Any.do app.

  2. Drag it to the bottom of the screen until it is located in the tray section.

πŸ–Ό Add the tray icon widget on the Windows app

  1. Open the computer Settings.

  2. Open the Personalization option, located on the top right side.

  3. Choose the Taskbar option, from the menu on the right side (the last option).

  4. Under the Notification Area section, choose the 'select which icons appear on the taskbar'.

  5. Locate Any.do and enable the option for it.


βœ… Working with the desktop widgets

The desktop widget is very compact so operating it is extremely easy:

πŸ’» To add a task via the tray icon

  1. Click on the tray icon from your Windows or Mac device.

  2. Click on "Add new task'

  3. Input your tasks from the pop-up box.

  4. In this menu, you can add a personal task.

πŸ’» To open the app via the tray icon

  1. Click on the tray icon from your Windows or Mac device.

  2. Click on "Open Any.do".

  3. Once you open the app you can add a personal task or a board task.

πŸ’» To quit the app via the tray icon

  1. Click on the tray icon from your Windows or Mac device.

  2. Click on "Quit".


❌ To remove the desktop widget

If you no longer need the desktop widget, you can easily remove it from displaying on your device as detailed here:

Just drag the item out of the Dock until the 'Remove' option is shown.

πŸ–Ό Remove the tray icon widget on the Windows app

  1. Press and hold or right-click any empty space on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.

  2. Under Taskbar corner icons: Select On for any icons you want to see on the taskbar.

  3. Select Off for any icons you don't want to see on the taskbar.
