The Any.do Widgets

What is it?

The Any.do’s widgets give you the ability to manage your tasks right from your home screen – on mobile and desktop! Whether you’re using an Android device or iOS, you can easily access your tasks and events on-the-go by adding one of our widgets to your home screen. The widgets will sync with the app automatically, so anything you add or modify is immediately reflected in the app and across all other platforms.

Who can access?

How does it work?

  • On Android, you can also choose from 4 different widgets, raging in size and functionality – accommodating your every need.
  • Android users can opt to add a Quick Add bar to their notifications center (Android curtain) as well.
  • On iOS users set Home Screen and Today view widgets.
  • At this time we do not have iOS 16 Lock Screen widgets.
  • The Windows and Mac apps, offer tray-icons to quickly add tasks while working in other windows.

The Android Widget

 

Android widget types

There are four different types of Android widgets:

  • The Task View/ Light Widget- Allows you to view all your tasks by scrolling through, complete tasks, and add new tasks by voice or typing. Exists in white or translucent options.
  • The Calendar Widget- Allows you to see your calendar, and your events and tasks that appear on it are shown below. You can browse through the dates, or use buttons on the bottom to quickly add events or tasks. Exists in white or translucent options.
  • The Compact Widget- Allows you to cycle through your tasks for today, viewing one at a time. Also has buttons for adding tasks by voice or typing. Exists in white or translucent options.
  • The minimal Widget- Only has buttons for adding tasks by voice or typing. Exists in white or translucent options.
  • Last, there’s the 3X3 option, for users who prefer the old view. You are welcome to add as many widgets as you’d like!

To add the Android widget

  1. Long press on your home screen
  2. Press “Widgets”
  3. Scroll to Any.do and select it
  4. Choose which widget you want to add, and drag it to your home screen.

Working with the Android widget

✔️ To resize a widget:

  1. Hold on the widget for 2-3 seconds.
  2. Select “resize” or “padding.”
  3. Drag the edges to the size you desire.

✔️ To move a widget: Simply long press and then drag it wherever you would like

✔️ To switch from Calendar to Tasks View: 

  1. Open the widget display.
  2. Press on either the Calendar or Tasks views on the top left corner.

✔️ To add a task from the widget: Simply press , , or “Add a new task” depending on which Widget you are using and how you want to add the task.

✔️ To complete a task from the widget: Simply tap the checkbox to the left of the task.

✔️ To add the quick-add bar option:

  1. Enter your app’s settings.
  2. Toggle the Quick Add-bar to ‘Show’.

To remove the Android widget

  1. Long press to start moving the widget.
  2. Tap on “Remove from Home” or drag it to the top of the screen where it says “Remove.”

The iOS Widget

 

iOS widget types

  • My Day- show your current day tasks.
  • My Day wide- show your current day tasks.
  • My Day big- show your current day tasks.
  • Agenda small – show days you have events.
  • Agenda big – show your current day events and tasks.
  • Tasks- Quick access to tasks in a list or a tag of your choice.
  • Tasks wide- Quick access to tasks in a list or a tag of your choice.
  • Tasks big- Quick access to tasks in a list or a tag of your choice.
  • Status- Keep track of your daily progress.
  • Create- create a task or event.
  • Up Event- keep up with your next event.

 


To add the iOS widget

✔️ To install/remove the widgets on Home screen or Today view:

  1. From the Home Screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle, or Press edit.
  2. Tap on the “+” icon on the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Search for Any.do, and tap on the widget you want to add.
  4. The task widgets also allow the option to select different filters to viewing tasks, by simply tapping the display while in edit mode.

Note: At this time we do not have iOS 16 Lock Screen widgets.

✔️ To install/remove the widget on iOS 13 and below: 

  1. Go to the left most screen on your device’s home where you can view widgets.
  2. Press “Edit”
  3. Scroll to Any.do and enable/disable it

Working with the iOS widget

✔️ To edit the task widget sorting: 

  1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to edit.
  2. Tap “Edit widget”.
  3. Choose the sorting type.

✔️ To switch from Calendar to Tasks View (iOS 13 and below): 

  1. Open the widget display.
  2. Press on either the Calendar or Tasks views on the top left corner.

To remove the iOS widget

  1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to remove.
  2. Tap Remove Widget.
  3. Tap Remove again to confirm.

The Desktop widget

 

Desktop widget types

The Mac and Windows apps allow to add tray icons to your device, in order to quickly open an input box to add tasks while working in different windows.


To Add the desktop widget

✔️Add a tray icon on the Mac app:

  1. Search in your Mac using the finder the Any.do app.
  2. Drag it to the bottom of the screen until it is located in the tray section.
✔️Add a tray icon on the Windows app:
  1. Open the computer Settings.
  2. Open the Personalization option, located on the top right side.
  3. Choose the Taskbar option, from the menu on the right side (the last option).
  4. Under the Notification Area section, choose the ‘select which icons appear on the taskbar’.
  5. Locate Any.do and enable the option for it.

Working with the desktop widget

✔️To add a task via the tray icon:
  1. Click on the tray icon from your Windows or Mac device.
  2. Input your tasks from the pop-up box.

To remove the desktop widget

✔️ Remove a tray icon on the Mac app:
  1. Drag the item out of the Dock until Remove is shown.

✔️ Remove a tray icon on the Windows app:

  1. Press and hold or right-click any empty space on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
  2. Under Taskbar corner icons: Select On for any icons you want to see on the taskbar.
  3. Select Off for any icons you don’t want to see on the taskbar.
