Any.do + WhatsApp Reminders & Tasks

What is it?

So many conversations, so little time to follow up. WhatsApp is one of the most popular tools to stay in touch with your friends, colleagues and family on the daily. Often times, these conversations include items which require further attention. However, with no designated place to collect all action items from your conversations, it can be hard to keep track. Introducing Any.do’s WhatsApp Reminders – a fast and easy way to create tasks & reminders straight from your ongoing conversations!

Who has access?

  • The feature can be used by Premium users only
  • The feature is available on iOS and Android. Any changes to tasks will sync across all platforms. 
  • Automatic time detection is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Portuguese, Chinese, Italian, Korean and Arabic only. Be advised that while the bot can detect reminders based on these languages, its reply is currently provided in English only.

How does it work?

  • Easily create tasks and get reminders in WhatsApp on any supported device.
  • Create a task by sending a direct message to Any.do or forward a message to Any.do from any of your contacts.
  • Be reminded as soon as tasks are due, straight through WhatsApp. It’s easy, simple and effective!
  • Keep in mind – Any.do’s Whatsapp integration allows users to send reminders to their personal bot only.
  • Users cannot create reminders for other users’ or send them their own personal reminders.
  • The bot’s conversation is handled independently by each users and the bot cannot be added to group chats. However, you may always forward messages from any group or chat directly to the bot’s conversation if needed. 
  • For optimal time detection, make sure to use the acceptable time formats below.

To enable the WhatsApp Integration

✔️ Android/ iOS

  1. Make sure you have an Any.do Premium account.
  2. Go to Settings -> Integrations -> WhatsApp.
  3. Add your phone number and tap send.
  4. Enter the 6 digits code you recieved via text and tap confirm.
  5. Turn your reminders on and start messaging to create tasks!

* A new conversation with Any.do will be added to your WhatsApp account, to allow for adding new tasks.

✔️ Web/ Windows/ Mac

  1. Make sure you have an Any.do Premium account.
  2. Go to Settings -> Integrations -> WhatsApp.
  3. Add your phone number and tap send.
  4. Enter the 6 digits code you recieved via text and tap confirm.
  5. Turn your reminders on and start messaging to create tasks!

* A new conversation with Any.do will be added to your WhatsApp account, to allow for adding new tasks.


To enable/ disable notifications

✔️ Android/ iOS/ Web/ Windows/ Mac

  1. Open Any.do.
  2. Go to settings → integrations → WhatsApp.
  3. Toggle ON/ OFF the “reminders” option.


To add a direct WhatsApp reminder

✔️ Android/ iOS/ Web/ Windows/ Mac

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Open the Any.do conversation.
  3. Enter ‘remind me to..’ (make sure to use the acceptable time formats below).
  4. Any.do will ask you for the reminder time.
  5. Add the time and you’re all set!

* All your tasks and reminders from WhatsApp will auto-sync with your Any.do account.


To forward a WhatsApp reminder

✔️ Android/ iOS/ Web/ Windows/ Mac

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Open any of your ongoing conversations.
  3. Select a message and forward it to ‘Any.do’.
  4. Any.do will add the task and will ask you for the reminder time.
  5. Add the time (make sure to use the acceptable time formats below) and you’re all set!

Users can choose if they want to receive all reminders via Whatsapp or only use it to set reminders and receive notifications via Any.do.


Using acceptable time formats

When setting reminders, make sure to use the following acceptable time formats to be recognized by Whatsapp:

  • [Task Title] at 5 pm /am
  • [Task Title] next week/today/next month/tomorrow at 6

  • [Task Title] 1-8-2020 at 16

Unacceptable formats: 

  • [Task Title] 9m
  • [Task Title] 9/40
  • [Task Title] 940  ( if you want to write 9:40)
  • [Task Title] 9-40 
  • [Task Title] 9.40 

Using multiple numbers in a message can cause recognition issue, which is why we recommend converting numbers to words, unless they are part of the reminder time. 


To set your time zone

✔️ Android

  1. Open Any.do.
  2. Go to Settings – Time Zone. 
  3. Select your preference. 

Note: This time zone will affect Whatsapp reminders only, it has nothing to do with Any.do reminders. In case of any delays in your reminders, please make sure your time zone is properly set. iOS and Web users experiencing time zone issues, please contact our team directly.


To disconnect your number

✔️ Android/ iOS/ Web/ Windows/ Mac

  1. Open Any.do.
  2. Go to settings → integrations → WhatsApp.
  3. Disconnect.
