🧭 How location reminders work

A quick overview before you set one up.

  • Arrival or Departure: Choose Remind me when I arrive or when I leave a place.

  • One reminder type per task: A task can have either a time-based reminder or a location reminder. Switch between them as needed.

  • Keeps reminding until done: If the task stays open, you can be reminded again the next time you arrive/leave that location.

  • Saved places: Add Favorite locations so you can reuse them in one tap.

  • Permissions required: Allow location access on your phone so the app can detect when you arrive or leave.

📱 Set a location reminder (Android & iOS)

Create your first arrive/leave reminder in a few taps.

  1. Open a personal task → tap Remind me (If a time-based reminder exists, tap Clear/Delete to remove it).

  2. Choose Location (sometimes shown as Where).

  3. Search or pick a place → select When I arrive or When I leave.

  4. Save.

⭐ Save favorite places

Keep common spots handy for quick setup.

  1. Open any personal task → Remind meLocation.

  2. Tap Add a new location.

  3. Enter the address and a friendly name (Home, Office, Gym) → Done.

  4. Next time, select it from Favorites.

✏️ Edit, switch, or remove

Change your mind anytime.

  • Edit: Open the task → tap the current location reminder → adjust the place or trigger (arrive/leave) → Save.

  • Switch type: Open the task → clear the location reminder → pick One-time or Recurring instead → Save.

  • Remove: Open the task → tap the reminder → Clear/Delete.

🧠 Tips & quick fixes

Keep location alerts reliable with these simple checks.

  • Permissions: Allow Location for Any.do in your phone settings.

  • iOS: Turn on Precise Location and choose Always or While Using access.

  • Android: Allow Background location, set High accuracy/Precise location, and exclude Any.do from Battery optimization if needed.

  • One reminder type per task: If a time-based reminder exists, clear it before setting a location reminder.

  • Connectivity: Keep mobile data on when possible for faster delivery.

  • Triggering: For Arrive, start outside the area and move in. For Leave, step fully outside the area, then re-enter to test again.

🙋 FAQs

🚶 What’s the difference between “Arrive” and “Leave”?

Arrive triggers as you enter the area. Leave triggers when you exit it. Use Arrive for pickups and Leave for end-of-day routines.

⏰ Can I combine a location reminder with a time-based reminder?

No. A task can only have one reminder type at a time. Clear one to switch to the other.

♻️ Will I get the reminder every time I pass by?

If the task is still open with an active location reminder, you can be alerted again on future arrivals/departures.

⭐ Can I save multiple favorite places?

Yes. Add as many Favorite locations as you like and pick them when setting reminders.

📵 Do I need internet for location reminders to work?

Basic detection uses your phone’s location services. Limited connectivity may delay push delivery, so keep data on when possible.

🔋 Why didn’t my alert trigger?

Most issues relate to permissions or power-saving. Recheck Location and Battery settings, then test by arriving from outside the area. See Tips & quick fixes above.

📲 Can I use location reminders on desktop or web?

No. Location reminders are mobile-only on Android and iOS.
