Managing tasks is the core of productivity! Adding and completing action items as you go throughout your day, helps you stay more organized and productive. You can add as many attributes to any task as you wish, so that you never forget any important due-time or any crucial detail. The Task Menu is where you can edit and manage each and every active task on Any.do. From the task menu you’ll be able to edit its title, Reminders, List, Tags, notes and attachments, and also complete and archive it and more.

πŸ› οΈ How does it work?

  • Tasks can be added using various options on each platform, via our Integrations and extensions, or even by using your voice.

  • You can also email your tasks from the same email address as your Any.do account. Your subject line will become the task's title, and the email's body will become the notes.

  • To move a task between categories or lists, simply drag and drop it to the preferred location.

  • To edit a task, open its Task Menu. You'll be able to edit its title, Reminders, List, Tags, notes and attachments, and also complete it or delete it!

  • Completing tasks can be easily done by swiping an item, or using the checkboxes available in both our Task and Calendar views.

  • On the mobile, you can also tap the Focus Mode button, for a simple way to stay concentrated on completing the task at hand.

βœ… To add a task

Use the Quick-Add bar at the bottom of your screen, to add a task by typing its title. You can customize your task using natural language, with the Smart Type feature. To add a task by voice, click the microphone icon on your keyboard. From any of your lists, filtered by Time categories or by List, tap the plus icon next to the time category/ list title, to add the task to that exact category. Tasks can also be added from outside Any.do using the Widgets.

Add a task using the bottom input, you can also add a tag\assign a list\ add a due date from the icons that are above the input.

  1. Long tap on a task to manually drag & drop it among other tasks and lists. OR

  2. Tap on the three dots menu and select Sort by Time or by List.


✏️ To edit a task's title

  1. Tap on a task to open its Task Menu.

  2. Tap on the task's title to edit.

  3. Press "Enter" on your keyboard, or tap anywhere on the screen to save the change.

On Android, you can long press the task title from the main Task View, and edit it without opening full task menu.

  1. Click on a task to open its Task Menu.

  2. Click on the task's title to edit using the grey text box.

  3. Click anywhere on the screen to save the change.

✍️ To edit task-details

  • To save a task tap the β€˜Save’ button at the top-right corner of the Task Menu.

  • On an Android device, you may also pull down the Task Menu.

  • To save a task after making any changes, simply click anywhere on the screen.

‴️ To move a task to a different list

  1. Tap on the task to open its Task Menu.

  2. Tap on the 'List' drop down option.

  3. Select the list you would like to move the task to.

Alternatively, you can simply filter the "All Tasks" view by 'List', and drag and drop the task from one list to another.


πŸ“‘ To import tasks using copy-paste

πŸ“± Android/ iOS

  1. Copy a list of tasks to your clipboard

  2. Enter a list's task view.

  3. Press the three dots icon on the top right of the screen.

  4. Press "Paste from clipboard" and check/uncheck the items you want to import.

πŸ’» Web/ Desktop

  1. Open the settings menu from the top left profile image\icon.

  2. Click on the 'Import to Any.do' button.

  3. Go to any external list of tasks you would like to import, mark all of them and copy (command + c / control + c / right-click on your mouse and choose the copy option).

  4. Go back to the Any.do web page and paste the items (command + v / control + v / right-click on your mouse and choose the past option).

  5. If you would like to remove any of the tasks you are going to import, click on the plus sign next to that item.

  6. Click on 'Add Tasks' to complete the import.

Or

  1. Click on the input area of a task.

  2. Paste one item or multiple items at once.

πŸ’‘ Note: You can select to paste multiple items at once, paste a list of items and click on "Add X tasks".


πŸ“‹ To move a personal task to a board

πŸ’» Web/ Desktop

  1. Open the Task's Menu.

  2. Click on the title of the list next to the reminder.

  3. Select the board in the "Move to..." pop-up.

OR

  1. Hover over the task in the list.

  2. Click on the three dots menu on the right.

  3. Select "Lists".

  4. Select the board in the "Move to..." pop-up.

Note: At this time moving personal tasks to boards can only be done through the web/desktop app.
